Oasis

My yard had large bushes on both sides of the yard. They were way above my head intertwined with the fence making the hedge seem like an impenetrable oasis from the concrete savanna of the streets. My father always kept the yard very well maintained with lush green foliage and an elaborate array of colorful flowers, it was a pleasant sight. Being in the yard was like a shelter from the outside world while you were outside. You could still hear running engines and chatter of the people but they would never bother you without invitation. That’s what made my yard an oasis.

Mansfield,

The idea of the yard as a shelter, although being outside, is wonderful and worth exploring more. What is it about our own yards that keeps us "safe" from what might be ten more feet away? Has America created the idea of the backyard to close us into a safe zone that makes us feel like we own part of all this land?

I think you definently have something going with this post. You should add more to the story, and detail. I wanted to read more. I wanted to read more about the beautiful flowers and perfect cut grass! The more details in the story the better I can invision your "oasis"..well done!

I wish I had an Oasis as a backyard. I like the way you feel about the way your backyard shelters you from outside even though youur outside. You give a good idea of how your backyard looks. "I LIKE!":)

You used very descriptive words in your essay. It helped the reader get a clear picture of what your backyard looks like. I like your story because i had no problem visualizing your backyard. Nice job bro.
