I had a friend who was similar in that way. He would appear to be sweet and gentle at times but his overcoat started to disintegrate. He was a good friend but wanted everything done his way even if he was wrong. We were on a road trip and got lost and everyone but him knew we were lost but he didn't want to seem like he was lost. we found our destination but it seemed like we went halfway around the world when we were so close to our destination.
The way that i handled it was thinking that I'm not the one driving and wasting gas and i was trying not to get mad and have a good time. It is better if there is only one mad person than the whole group be mad and ruin the trip.After we got to our destination everything went back to normal and everyone joked about getting lost like it wasn't a big deal.
