At the age of 17, not even a week after I first read On the Road, I enticed my friend, nicknamed The Belgian Shepherd, to join me in my 1991 Honda Civic Hatchback in a journey across the states to Seattle, where we then dropped all down the coast, through Vegas, and back to the Midbest. I recall writing everything down on a longish scroll as well, which was shredded up in a storm that knocked a pole down in front of my little red car. Needless to say, this book inspired me quite a bit and I return to it each year to revisit the roots of such strong inspiration.
